Bio


Blake Lavia (all pronouns) is a writer, visual artist, and community organizer. They have written the sci-fi series, Panoptic Snow and the sci-fi/fantasy novel Children of Shadow & Light, and are in the process of querying agents. Lavia also creates mixed media illustrations, which they use to educate human communities about an ecocentric worldview. In recent years, they have worked with the storytelling collective Talking Wings to celebrate the voice and rights of Nature. Lavia is also the co-founder of Talking Rivers, an organization that advocates for the rights of rivers and their ecosystems. Their art and short films have been exhibited in venues such as the The Wild Center, the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, the Richard F. Brush Gallery, the Western Massachusetts Biennial, and The ROAR. In addition, their writing has been published in venues such as the Journal of Rural Sociology and The Closed Eyes Open Magazine.
